बसपा सुप्रीमो मायावती की भतीजी ने दहेज उत्पीड़न के मामले में अपनी सास हापुड़ नगर पालिकाध्यक्ष पुष्पा देवी, ससुर श्रीपाल सिंह समेत सात लोगों के खिलाफ दहेज उत्पीड़न का मुकदमा दर्ज कराया है। आरोप है कि आरोपी दहेज में 50 लाख रुपये और इंदिरापुरम में फ्लैट की मांग कर रहे थे। इसके साथ जेठ व ससुर पर दुष्कर्म के प्रयास और पिटाई का भी आरोप लगाया है। पुलिस द्वारा कार्रवाई न करने पर कोर्ट के आदेश पर यह मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया है। मुकदमा दर्ज होने के बाद बसपा जिलाध्यक्ष डॉ. एके कर्दम ने आरोपी दंपती व उनके पुत्र को पार्टी से निष्कासित कर दिया है। पीड़िता ने दर्ज रिपोर्ट में बताया कि नौ नवंबर 2023 को उसका विवाह बैंक कॉलोनी निकट रामलीला ग्राउंड निवासी पुष्पा देवी के पुत्र विशाल के साथ हुआ था। पुष्पा देवी वर्तमान में बसपा से हापुड़ की नगर पालिकाध्यक्ष हैं।
